Company History
Advanced Waste Management Systems, Inc. had its beginning in 1985 with Dr. Richard A. Ellis.
In 1997 AWM was one of the first five ISO 14001 registrars accredited under the ANSI-RAB National Accreditation Program (ANAB) and was the first such firm to be accredited under a United States program. AWM was the only environmental and engineering services firm selected. In 2008 AWM was also selected as one of the pilot companies for GHG verification and in 2014 for ISO 50001 and Superior Energy Performance (SEP). Most recently, AWM was became one of the early certification bodies accredited for ISO 45001 (Occupational, Health, and Safety Management Systems).
AWM has completed projects in 24 countries and for multiple international agencies, including NATO, the US Trade and Development Agency, and the World Bank, as detailed on this page.
