AWM's CEO significantly reduces company emissions

solar first phase completeRichard Ellis, Chairman and CEO of AWMS, recently purchased a Ford C-Max Energi plug-in hybrid for his daily commute thus significantly reducing the company's Scope 3 emissions. After 1 month (including some out-of-town trips) he has only used about a quarter tank of gas and is averaging about 105 mpg.

Solar 2nd Phase Complete

solar first phase completeAWM has completed the second phase of solar electric panel installation which has doubled our renewable energy generation.

With the completion of this phase AWM is now generating about one third of the electricity consumed at our main office.

This accounts for office equipment, lighting, computers, and basically everything except the HVAC system. AWM is proud to reduce both our GHG emissions and environmental impacts and to improve our energy efficiency.

ISO 50001 - Energy Management Systems

AWMS offering new registration service.

On August 21, 2012 the ANSI-‐ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB) granted AWMS accreditation to offer certification services to ISO 50001. Continuing AWMS’ trend in the fields of ISO 14001 environmental management systems, OHSAS 18001 occupational health and safety management systems, and ISO 14065 greenhouse gas verification services, AWMS was among the first to achieve this accreditation. Currently only three companies have been able to pass the rigorous application and testing process.

Solar 1st Phase Complete

solar first phase completeAWM has just completed installation of a first phase of solar electric panels planned for the southeast facing roof of the Chattanooga office (shown here). AWM intends to ultimately use the entire roof for solar electric panels.

The first phase will produce enough electricity to power computers, fluorescent lights, and the filtration system for the koi pond, but AWM has decided to sell the power back to the Tennessee Valley Authority at a premium rate. TVA will then add it to its green power pool and market it to the public.
